Read Luke 8:22-25 and discuss following questions

1. What are some things that make you afraid?

우리를 두렵게 하는 것들에는 어떤 것들이 있을까요?

2. How can you trust Jesus through hard situations?

우리는 어려움과 두려움 속에서 어떻게 예수님을 신뢰할 수 있을까요?

3. Why do you think Jesus performed the miracle?

예수님은 왜 바다를 잠잠케 하시는 기적을 행하셨을까요?

Jesus told His disciples to go over to the other side of lake by boat. Jesus fell asleep on the boat and a squall came down on the lake and the boat was being swamped. The disciples were terrified and sacred. They woke Jesus, saying “Master, we are going to drown!”. Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the raging water. And suddenly all became calm. Jesus asked them “Where is your faith?”. Jesus is the Lord of universe who created all things with His Word. He was with His disciples on the boat. But the disciple were not able to see Him and trust Him that He would save them. They were terrified and they were afraid that they would die. Jesus taught them a lesson through this miracle that they have to trust Jesus who can save them instead of being drawn in fear.

예수님은 제자들에게 배를 타고 호수 저편으로 건너가자고 하십니다. 예수님은 그 배안에서 잠이 드시고 제자들은극심한 풍랑을 만나 자신들이 죽게되었다고 두려움에 떨며 자고계신 예수님을 깨웁니다. 제자들은 예수님이 자신들이 죽게 된 것을 돌보지 않는다고 불평하며 예수님을 깨웠지만 예수님은 그들을 돌보지 않으신 것이 아닌 그들에게 가르치고 싶으신 것이 있으셨습니다. 예수님은 그들과 함께 계셨습니다. 온 우주와 만물을 창조하신 예수님이그들과 함께 계셨으므로 그들은 두려워 할 필요가 없었습니다. 말씀으로 모든 풍랑을 잠잠케 하신 예수님은 그들에게 그들의 믿음이 어디있냐고 하십니다. 우리는 어려움을 만날 때에 우리 앞에 닥친 어려움에 빠져들어가며 두려워하는것이 아니라 우리와 함께 계신 예수님을 볼 수 있는 믿음을 가져야합니다. 우리를 어려움에서 구원하실 뿐만아니라 우리를 죽음에서 구원하신 예수님을 우리는 신뢰하며 의지해야합니다.
