1. What kind of people did Jesus choose to be His disciples?

예수님은 어떠한 사람들을 제자로 부르셨나요?

Jesus could have just chosen people who were smart, rich, and respected by many people, but He called the people who were uneducated, poor, and despised by others to be His followers. Jesus taught them, train them, and live with them, so that they could be true disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus all around the world.

예수님은 하나님 나라의 준비된 일꾼으로서 똑똑하고 부유하고 많은 이들에게 존경받는 이들을 제자로 택하셨을수도 있으셨지만, 교육받지 못한 자, 가난한 자, 멸시받는 자들을 택하시어 그를 따르라고 하셨습니다. 그들과 함께먹고 자며 가르치고 훈련시키시며 그들이 또 다른 제자들을 만드는 진정한 예수님이 되어 하나님께 영광돌리게 하셨습니다.

“Brothers, look at what you were when God called you. Not many of you were wise in the way the world judges wisdom. Not many of you had great influence. Not many of you came from important families. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. He chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. And he chose what the world thinks is not important. He chose what the world hates and thinks is nothing. He chose these to destroy what the world thinks is important. God did this so that no man can brag before him. It is God who has made you part of Christ Jesus. Christ has become wisdom for us from God. Christ is the reason we are right with God and have freedom from sin; Christ is the reason we are holy. So, as the Scripture says, “If a person brags, he should brag only about the Lord.””

They immediately left everything behind and followed Jesus. Jesus’ call was clear and radical. “Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” (Matthew‬ ‭16:24‬ ‭ESV‬‬)
