1. What was the role of John the Baptist? 침례 요한의 역할은 무엇이었나요? John the Baptist was “a voice of one crying out: Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness” as it was prophesied in Isaiah 40:3. As Gabriel told to Zechariah, the father of John, John was to prepare the way for the Lord by turning people’s heart to God. So John told people to be baptized and turn away from their sins and turn back to God. 침례 요한은 이사야 40:3에 기록된 말씀대로 “광야에서 여호와의 길을 에비하라 사막에서 우리 하나님의 대로를 평탄하게 하라”고 외치는 외치는 자의 소리로 부르심을 받았습니다. 천사 가브리엘이 사가랴에게 나타나 요한의 탄생에 대해 이야기 할 때 말한 것처럼 그의 역할은 예수님의 앞에 가서 사람들의 마음이 하나님께로 향하도록 준비시키는 것이었습니다. 그래서 요한은 사람들에게 죄사함의 침례를 받고 죄로부터 돌이켜 하나님께로 향할 것을 촉구했습니다. 2. Why was Jesus Baptized? 왜 예수님이 침례를 받으셔야 했나요? Why Jesus who knew no sin had to be baptized? John said it is the “baptism of repentance”. Jesus didn’t need to be baptized, because he had no sin. When John said “Why do you want to be baptized? I need to be baptized by you!”, Jesus said, “It is to fulfill all righteousness”. Jesus was perfectly righteous and sinless. Why would he want to be baptized? By being baptized, Jesus showed that he bore all our sins and die on the cross for our sins. Baptism is a symbol of Jesus death and resurrection. By being immerged in water, we die with Christ with our old self, and by coming out of the water, we declare our new life with resurrected Jesus. 침례 요한은 침례를 “죄 사함을 받게하는 회개의 침례” 라고 말합니다. 죄 없으신 예수님이 왜 죄 사함의 침례를 받으셔야 했을까요? 예수님은 예수님의 침례를 받으심으로 “모든 의를 이루는 것이 합당하다”라고 말씀하십니다. 완전히 의로우신 예수님이 말씀하신 이 ‘의’는 무엇일까요? 죄사함의 침례를 받으심으로 예수님은 모든 이들의 죄를 대신하여 그들의 죄사함을 위해 죽으실 것을 보여주셨습니다. 침례는 예수님의 죽음과 부활에 대한 상징입니다. 물에 잠김으로, 예수님과 함께 우리의 죄악된 옛사람이 죽고, 물에서 나옴으로서 예수님과 함께 다시 사는 새로운 삶의 시작을 상징합니다. 3. Why is baptism important and what does it mean? Baptism is the public declaration of our faith in Jesus Christ and decision to turn away from our old sinful life and live a new life in Christ. Help your kids think seriously about life as a Christian that die with Christ and live with Christ. Let them think about the true meaning of baptism and get ready for baptism that they are going to decide one day. 침례는 모든 성도 앞에서 예수님과 함께 죽고 예수님과 함께 사는 새로운 삶에 대한 믿음의 선포이고 결단입니다. 아이들이 진정한 침례가 무엇인지에 대해 생각해 볼 수 있도록 도와주시고 언젠가 침례를 받기로 결단할 날을 위해 마음을 준비할 수 있도록 도와주시고 기도해주세요.
