1. Why did Peter sink? 베드로는 왜 물에 가라앉게 되었나요?

“But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid." And Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me."”

27. 예수께서 즉시 이르시되 안심하라 나니 두려워하지 말라

28. 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주여 만일 주님이시거든 나를 명하사 물 위로 오라 하소서 하니

29. 오라 하시니 베드로가 배에서 내려 물 위로 걸어서 예수께로 가되

30. 바람을 보고 무서워 빠져 가는지라 소리 질러 이르되 주여 나를 구원하소서 하니

The disciples were terrified, because they thought it was a ghost who was waking on water toward them. When they knew it was Jesus, Peter told Jesus “command me to come to you on the water”. He was walking on the water and coming to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and beginning to sink. When Peter fixed his eyes on Jesus, he was able to walk on water and go to Jesus. But when he started to focus on the circumstances and danger, he was afraid and lost his faith in Jesus. Talk with your child about our faith in light of this story of Peter. When we have difficulties in our lives, do we focus on our difficulties or on Jesus?

폭풍에 두려워하던 제자들은 물 위를 걸어서 자신들에게 오시는 예수님을 보고는 유령인줄알고 무서워서 소리를질렀습니다. 예수께서 “안심하라 나니 두려워하지말라” 말씀하신 후, 베드로는 그를 명하사 물 위로 오라 하시기를 구하고 예수님은 그러기를 허락하십니다. 베드로는 예수님을 바라보며 배에서 내려 물 위를 걷기 시작했지만 곧예수님이 아닌 눈 앞의 풍랑을 보고는 두려워 물에 가라앉기 시작합니다. 눈앞에 닥친 환경과 위험에 집중하여 예수님을 향한 믿음을 잃고 물에 빠져들아갔던 것입니다. 이 베드로와 예수님의 이야기를 통해서 아이와 함께 우리의믿음에 대해 대화를 나누어 보세요. 우리는 우리 삶에 어려움이 올 때에 주님께 집중하나요 아니면 우리의 어려움에 집중하여 두려움에 빠져들아가곤 하나요?

2. How did Jesus save Peter from sinking?

“Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.”

31. 예수께서 즉시 손을 내밀어 그를 붙잡으시며 이르시되 믿음이 작은 자여 왜 의심하였느냐 하시고

32. 배에 함께 오르매 바람이 그치는지라

When Peter asked Jesus to save him, Jesus immediately reached out His hand and took hold of him, rebuking his little faith and doubt. Sometimes, we fall into our fear and lost our faith, when we lose focus on Jesus and focus on our problems and difficulties. But whenever we ask Jesus to save us, Jesus will immediately reach out His hands and save us. Sometimes Jesus allows us difficulties in our life so that our faith may grow in Him. Even when we fail to have faith in Him in such situation, Jesus is alway there to help us and save us.

물에 빠져들어가던 베드로가 예수님께 구해달라고 청하였을 때, 예수님은 즉시 손을 내밀어 베드로를 물에서 건져주시고 베드로의 믿음 없음과 의심하였음을 꾸짖으셨습니다. 때때로 우리는 상황이 주는 두려움에 빠져 우리의 믿음을 잃어버리곤 합니다. 하지만 우리가 예수님께 구해주시기를 구할 때, 예수님은 즉시 손을 내미사 우리를 건져주십니다. 예수님은 때때로 우리의 믿음이 자라나게 하기 위해 우리의 삶에 어려움과 시련을 허락하십니다. 우리가어려운 상황이 주는 두려움에 빠져 예수님을 향한 믿음을 잃어버릴 때라도 예수님은 항상 거기 계셔서 우리를 도우시고 구원하시는 분임을 아이에게 말해주세요.

3. When is it hard to have faith in God?

Talk with your child about situations where it is hard to have faith in God and pray for your child.

하나님을 향한 믿음을 갖기 어려운 상황들에 대해서 아이와 함께 대화를 나누어보고 아이를 위해서 기도해주세요.
