1. What is suffering? 고난이란 무엇인가요?
2. Why do we have hope even in hard times? 왜 우리에게는 고난중에도 소망이 있나요?
3. How did Jesus show us how we deal with suffering? 예수님은 어떻게 우리가 고난에 대처해야 하는지 보여주셨나요?
: Jesus said “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Jesus didn’t promise that we will have comfortable lives without any problems if we believe in Jesus. He rather told us that we will have tribulation in the world. But His promise is that He who overcame the world will be with us forever.
Sometimes, God allows us to go through hard times in this world. But we have hope that the suffering is not to destroy us, but to strengthen our faith in God’s perfect plan. Jesus Himself suffered for us and showed how we have to face suffering. He obeyed God’s will perfectly even in the suffering. He overcame the suffering by trusting and obeying God’s will and give us strength to overcome. We have the living hope that Jesus who not only died for us, but rose again from the dead overcame the world. We have the living hope that Jesus who overcame the dead will come back to the earth. We have hope even in our hard times.
Do we have the living hope? Do we believe that the resurrected Jesus is coming back and eagerly wait for Him? Pray with your children not to live for temporary things in this world but live for the eternal things. Remember church families who are suffering due to Covid 19 or diseases and pray for them with your children.
예수님은 “세상에서는 너희가 환난을 당하나 담대하라 내가 세상을 이기었노라” (요16:33) 말씀하셨습니다. 예수님은 우리가 예수님을 믿으면 이 땅에서 아무런 문제가 없는 안락한 삶을 살 것이라고 말씀하지 않으셨습니다. 예수님은 오히려 우리가 이 땅에서 고난을 당할 것이라고 말씀하시며 세상 끝날까지 우리와 함께 하실 것이라고 약속하셨습니다.
때떄로 하나님은 우리에게 고난을 허락하십니다. 그것은 우리를 쓰러트리기 위한 것이 아닌 하나님의 완전하신 계획 안에 우리의 믿음을 굳건케 하시기 위한 것입니다. 세상사람들은 고난이 오면 절망하고 낙심하지만 우리 그리스도인들은 고난이 하나님의 선하신 뜻 안에서 허락된 것임을 알고 소망을 갖습니다. 예수님은 먼저 우리를 위하여 고난을 당하셨고 하나님의 뜻을 신뢰하고 순종하심으로 우리가 따라갈 본이 되어주셨습니다. 예수님은 우리를 위하여 죽으실 뿐만 아니라 죽음을 이기시고 다시 살아나심으로 우리에게 산 소망이 되어주셨습니다. 부활하사 승천하셔서 하나님 우편에 앉아계신 예수님이 다시 오실 것이라는 것은 우리가 이 세상에서 고난 당할 때에도 우리에게 산 소망을 줍니다.
우리에게는 그 산 소망이 있습니까? 우리는 예수님이 죽으시고 다시 살아나신 것 뿐만 아니라 다시 오실 것을 믿고 기다리고 있습니까? 이 땅의 유한한 것만이 아닌 영원한 소망을 바라보자고 아이와 함께 다짐하고 기도해보세요. 코로나가 길어짐으로 인해 고난가운데 있는 교우들, 질병으로 고통받고 있는 교우들을 위해 아이와 함께 기도해주세요.
