Family Talk

1. Who is Jesus?

Some people thought Jesus was John the Baptist who had been raised from the dead; others thought He was Elijah or another ancient prophet. Peter recognized Jesus as God’s Messiah. In today’s passage (Matthew 17, Mark 9, Luke 9), Jesus revealed who He is by showing His glory to His disciples. On the mountain Hermon, while Jesus was praying, His appearance was changed. His face changed and HIs clothes became dazzling white. Moses and Elijah appeared with Him and talked with Jesus about His upcoming departure (His death and resurrection). As Moses and Elijah were leaving, a cloud covered the whole group and a voice of God the Father said, “This is my Son, the Chosen One; listen to Him!”

예수님은 누구신가요?

어떤 이들은 예수님이 죽음가운데 다시 살아난 침례요한이라고 하였고, 어떤 이들은 그가 구약의 엘리야나 다른 선지자들 중의 하나라고 말하였습니다. 베드로는 예수님을 하나님의 메시야, 그리스도시요 살아계신 하나님의 아들이라고 고백하여 칭찬을 들었습니다. 오늘 본문 (마태복음 17, 마가복음 9, 누가복음 9)에서 예수님은 제자들에게그의 영광을 보이심으로 자신이 누구이신지 나타내셨습니다. 베드로, 요한, 야고보를 데리고 기도하시러 산에 올라가신 예수님은 기도하시던 중에 용모와 얼굴이 변화되어 광채가 나셨고 모세와 엘리야가 나타나 예수님이 예루살렘에서 별세하실 (죽으시고 부활하사 승천하실) 것을 이야기했습니다. 모세와 엘리야가 떠나가자, 구름속에서 성부 하나님의 목소리가 들려 “이는 나의 아들이니, 그의 말을 들으라”고 말씀하셨습니다.

2. What did Jesus, Moses, and Elijah talk about?

“And behold, two men were talking with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.”

Moses and Elijah appeared in glory and talked with Jesus about Jesus’ departure in Jerusalem which indicates Jesus’ death, resurrection, and ascension. Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah who came to die for sins of the world, rose from the death, ascended to heaven, and will come back for the second time in glory. Talk about who Jesus is and how we want to react when Jesus comes back in glory.

영광 가운데 나타난 모세와 엘리야는 예수님이 예루살렘에서 별세하실 것, 곧 죽으시고 부활하시며 승천하실 것에대하여 이야기합니다. 예수님은 하나님의 아들이실 뿐만 아니라 세상의 제를 지시고 죽으시며, 부활하시고, 승천하시며, 영광 가운데 다시 오실 예수님 이십니다. 예수님이 누구이신지 이야기해보고 예수님이 영광 가운데 다시 오실 때 우리는 어떻게 예수님을 맞이하고 싶은지 이야기를 나누어보세요.

3. How can we glorify God?

“he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Ephesians 1:5-6 says that we are chosen by God to the praise of his glorious grace.

We are created and chosen to the glory of God. Talk about how we could glorify God.
