1. What did Jesus’ entry to Jerusalem look like? 예수님의 예루살렘 입성은 어떤 모습이었나요?
In the last week of Jesus’ ministry before His death and resurrection, Jesus entered Jerusalem as the King of kings. Jesus rode a donkey, and people laid branches and their robes on the ground in front of Him. The people welcoming Jesus into Jerusalem believed He was the promised Messiah.
예수님이 십자가에서의 죽음과 부활을 향해 가시던 사역의 여정의 마지막 주에, 예수님은 왕중의 왕으로 예루살렘에 입성하십니다. 예수님은 나귀 새끼를 타시고 예루살렘에 들어오셨고, 사람들은 예수님이 오시는 길에 겉옷과 나뭇가지들을 길에 펴고 예수님을 맞이했습니다. 그들은 예수님이 구약에 하나님이 약속하신 메시야라고 믿었습니다.
2. What did the people expect Jesus to do for them? 사람들은 예수님이 그들에게 무엇을 해 주시기를 바랬나요?
People believed that Jesus was the promised Messiah and they expected Him to overthrow Roman oppression and set up an earthly throne. People expected that the Messiah was the earthly king who would conquer the Roman empire and set Israel free from the oppression of the Roman empire. So when Jesus was put to death, people were disappointed and left Jesus.
사람들은 예수님이 선지자들을 통하여 하나님이 오리라 약속하신 메시야라고 믿었고, 이스라엘을 로마의 압제에서 자유롭게 할 정복 왕으로서 로마를 물리치고 이 땅을 다스리시기를 기대했습니다. 그랬기에 예수님이 고난당하시고 죽음에 내어졌을 때, 사람들은 실망하며 예수님을 떠났습니다.
3. Why did Jesus come to the earth? 예수님은 왜 이 땅에 오셨나요?
Jesus came as the eternal king who would set His people free from our ultimate and biggest problem, our sin. He conquered the death and the power of sin by dying on the cross and rising again from the death. People expected a powerful king that can save them immediately from Rome, but Jesus came as the humble king who entered into Jerusalem riding on a donkey and put to death by people and rose again from death. He accomplished the will of God and gave freedom and life to those who believe in Him.
“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the goal of a donkey’ (Zechariah 9:9)
예수님은 영원하신 왕으로 오셔서 사람들을 그들의 가장 크고 궁극적인 문제인 죄로부터 자유롭게 하시기 위하여 이 땅에 오셨습니다. 예수님은 십자가에 달려 죽으시고 부활하심으로써 죄와 사망의 권세에서 우리를 자유롭게 하셨습니다. 사람들은 당장 자신들에게 보이는 문제였던 로마의 압제에서 구원해 줄 강력한 왕을 기대했지만, 예수님은 겸손의 왕으로 오셔서 나귀새끼를 타고 예루살렘에 입성하시고 죄인처럼 사람들에게 붙잡혀 십자가에 못박혀 죽으시고 다시 살아나셔서 하나님의 뜻을 이루시고 그를 믿는 누구에게나 자유함과 생명을 주셨습니다.
“시온의 딸아 크게 기뻐할지어다 예루살렘의 딸아 즐거이 부를지어다 보라 네 왕이 네게 임하시나니 그는 공의로우시며 구원을 베푸시며 겸손하여서 나귀를 타시나니 나귀의 작은 것 곧 나귀 새끼니라” (스가랴 9:9)
